Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 19, 2025

This Privacy Policy explains how Naija.Events (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and protects your information across naija.events and our related sub-sites (e.g., vendor or event microsites).

If you have questions, contact us at admin@naija.events.

1) Who we are

Website: https://naija.events
Contact: admin@naija.events

2) What we collect

Account & profile data

  • When you create an account (as a Vendor or Customer/Guest), we collect the details you provide—name, email, phone (optional), business information, and any profile photos or logos you upload.

  • If you choose social sign-in (e.g., Google), we receive the basic profile data the provider shares (usually name and email). We never receive your social account password.

Listings & public content

  • Vendor/Venue/Event listings, photos, menus/files (e.g., PDFs), descriptions, prices, and availability that you publish are public by default. Do not upload anything you’re not comfortable sharing publicly.

Purchases & payments (if applicable)

  • When you buy tickets or other products via our checkout, we collect order data (items, amount, billing details).

  • Payments are processed by Paystack. We do not store card numbers. Paystack processes your payment data under its own policy.

Reviews & comments

  • If you leave a review/comment, we collect the data shown in the form, your IP address and browser user agent to help prevent spam.

  • An anonymized string generated from your email may be sent to Gravatar to display your avatar. See Gravatar’s policy: https://automattic.com/privacy/

Media uploads

  • Avoid uploading images with embedded location (EXIF/GPS) data. Site visitors could download and extract that information.

Technical data & cookies

  • We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the site (login/session, security, preferences), and—if you consent—analytics/measurement.

  • Your IP, browser type, device info, and pages visited may be logged for security and performance.

3) Cookies (summary)

  • Essential cookies (required): login/session, security, shopping cart, preferences.

  • Analytics cookies (optional): help us understand usage and improve the site.

  • Marketing cookies (optional): only if we run campaigns (not always used).

Examples (typical WordPress behaviour):

  • Comment convenience: if you leave a comment, you can opt to save your name/email/website in cookies for 1 year.

  • Login cookies: created when you sign in; usually last 2 days. “Remember me” extends to ~2 weeks.

  • Editor cookie: when you edit/publish, a cookie storing the post ID may be set for 1 day.

If you use a cookie banner/manager (e.g., Complianz), your choices there control non-essential cookies.

4) Embedded content & links

Pages may include embedded content (e.g., videos, maps, posts) that behave as if you visited the other website. Those sites may collect data about you. Please review their privacy policies.

5) How we use your data

  • Provide and secure our services (accounts, listings, search, messaging, orders, ticketing/check-in where enabled).

  • Show public listings and reviews.

  • Process payments via Paystack and deliver order confirmations.

  • Communicate with you about your account, listings, orders, and important updates.

  • Improve site performance, troubleshoot issues, and prevent fraud/abuse.

6) Who we share data with (processors)

We share data with service providers only as needed to run the site—for example:

  • Hosting & security providers (website operations).

  • Paystack (payment processing).

  • Email/transactional message services (order confirmations, notifications).

  • Analytics (if enabled).

We do not sell your personal data.

7) How long we keep data

  • Comments & reviews: kept indefinitely to maintain conversation history and reduce spam.

  • Accounts & listings: kept while your account is active. You can delete listings or request account deletion at any time (see Rights below).

  • Orders/tickets: stored for the period required by accounting/tax, fraud prevention, and legal obligations (often up to 7 years).

  • Server logs & security data: retained for a limited period for security and diagnostics.

8) Your rights

You can request to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.

  • Correct inaccurate information.

  • Delete your account and personal data (except data we must retain for legal or security purposes).

  • Export your data (machine-readable format).

To exercise these rights, email admin@naija.events. If your country grants additional rights (e.g., NDPR/GDPR), we’ll honour them where applicable.

9) Children’s privacy

Our services are intended for adults. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us to remove it.

10) Data location & transfers

Your data may be stored on servers operated by our hosting and service providers, which may be located outside your country. We take reasonable steps to ensure appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

11) Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data. No online service is 100% secure; please protect your login credentials and notify us of any suspected unauthorized activity.

12) Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date will reflect the latest version. Material changes will be communicated where feasible.
